Project Peace connects the resources of local churches with the needs of social service providers and agencies in Berkeley, Oakland, and surrounding areas.

DAY OF PEACE

What is a Day of Peace?

Day of PeaceDay of Peace is a coordinated effort executed by local churches that mobilize volunteers to serve and meet the needs in our East Bay Community. A Day of Peace is not an overtly Christian project as there is no teaching or prayer, and the agencies and organizations served are not faith-based non-profits. Thus, a Day of Peace creates an opportunity for churched and unchurched, spiritual and secular, religious and a-religious alike to come together simply to love and serve our shared community. Whether you are a friend, neighbor, or colleague, someone who cares very deeply about the agency that is being served, or someone who just wants to make new friends, the Day of Peace is a great place for you to get connected into service.

What does a Day of Peace look like?

A Day of Peace usually involves community “sweat equity.” Landscaping, construction, painting, organizing, cleaning up a watershed—all of these activities and more comprise a Day of Peace.

Join us for our next Day of Peace

On Saturday, December 1 from 9:00 until 12:00 we will be working with the Chaparral House on some basic maintenance and landscaping and also with Claremont Middle School, working in the garden, organizing some supplies and preparing Winter Break Baskets for faculty and staff.

While we continue to get our volunteer sign-up software built, please sign-up for one of these projects by emailing Bart Garrett at contact@projectpeaceeastbay.org. Please specify which project that you will be participating in, ask any questions that you may have, and specify the number of people that you will be accompanying you if applicable.
